Middlesex Cricket can today confirm that Eddie Villiers has been appointed to the role of Deputy Chair of the Club with immediate effect.
Eddie, born and raised in St John’s Wood, has been a lifelong fan and long standing member of the Club. He was first co-opted onto the Middlesex Board in May 2016 as one of two non-voting Board members, initially on a three-year term, before then securing a further term on the Board as one of two positions voted for in the Recreational Club members’ ballot in 2019. He is currently serving his seventh year on the Middlesex Board.
He chairs the Club’s Commercial Committee and also sits on the Club’s Recreational Cricket Committee and is Chair of the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy.
Eddie boasts an impressive track record in the world of global finance, most recently as Head of Markets London, and Global Head of Sales at Rabobank. He currently sits on the Board of a number of financial institutions in the Middle East as well as that of Cantor Fitzgerald Europe.
He is Chair of Primrose Hill Cricket Club and played a leading role in the formation of the club a decade and a half ago, which today boosts a thriving youth section and over 350 members. He is an ECB Level One Coach and still coaches Primrose Hill’s Under-8s and Under-9s.
Commenting on the appointment of Villiers as Deputy Chair, Mike O’Farrell, Middlesex Cricket’s Chair said:

“Since joining the Middlesex Board six years ago Eddie has brought a huge amount of value to the Club, and his commitment and passion for Middlesex Cricket is plain for all to see. His expertise and extensive commercial background have been instrumental in helping us drive our commercial strategy and growth and his knowledge of corporate governance has proved invaluable.
“The game of cricket faces many challenges today, and in the future, and for us to have someone of Eddie’s calibre and dedication in the role of Deputy Chair is an enormous positive for us as a Club.”
Commenting on the new role, Villiers himself added:
“It has been a great pleasure and privilege to sit on the Board of Middlesex and so I was delighted to be asked to step up and act as Deputy Chair. There is a huge amount going on in cricket in England at the moment, which makes the timing of this new role doubly exciting.
“We at Middlesex have had our own issues both on and off the field over the past few years, but, whilst many challenges are still ahead, I sense a huge excitement from everybody involved; the Board, and both playing and non-playing staff, and a real optimism for the season ahead. I share that optimism and enthusiasm and can’t wait to help take the Club back to the top of both Men’s and Women’s cricket.
