Women and Girls’ cricket is growing at an incredible rate throughout Middlesex and across the Country.
It is fantastic to now be able to see more women playing the game on TV, which means young girls have role models to look up to. This will undoubtedly inspire more to take up the game.
Middlesex Cricket have a desire to increase the female workforce in the game, and are well aware of the challenges that exist. These include women having the confidence to take their skills into clubs and the community, so we have looked at what we need to do to address and support you within our mentoring programme.
In conjunction with the Chair of the Middlesex Coaches Association (MCoA), Middlesex Cricket are hosting its inaugural women’s only coaching event at the start of April.
The invitation is open to all women who have ever taken a coaching qualification, from activator to Level 4, and any women considering taking a coaching course. The event will help explore what participants would want from the new mentoring programme.
Guest Speaker: Jane Powell – Advanced Coach Support with the ECB. Jane was a duel international player in Cricket and Hockey and was fortunate to captain England in cricket.
Practical session: Marc Broom – Middlesex South Region Lead Coach will lead a session sharing his insight in what it takes to help fielders succeed.
Break out groups: Facilitated by Middlesex we will explore what women would like from our mentoring programme and talk about the barriers that women may have experienced.
If we are to make change and support our female workforce, we do need your help to shape this.
