WOMEN'S LONDON CUP FIXTURE | DATE CHANGE

WOMEN'S LONDON CUP FIXTURE | DATE CHANGED

We have been notified by Surrey Cricket that unfortunately, as a result of the RMT train strikes planned for next week, that the Women's London Cup fixture between Surrey Women and Middlesex Women has been postponed due to logistical reasons.

The match, originally scheduled to be played at the Kia Oval next week, on Thursday 23rd June, will now take place at the same venue on Thursday 14th July 2022, starting at 6pm.

Middlesex Women are next in action in the London Championship, in the fifty over format, when they again will play London rivals Surrey, at Mill Hill School on Sunday 26th June.

The annual London Cup fixture originated in 2015, originally known as the Pemberton Greenish Cup, and it was Surrey who hosted the first ever fixture at the Oval. Middlesex prevailed in the inaugural clash, by the margin of 25 runs - to secure the first of five consecutive victories in the competition, from 2015 through to 2019.

Surrey claimed their first victory in 2020, beating Middlesex by 4 wickets off the penultimate ball of the match to claim their first honours, however Middlesex reclaimed the trophy last summer at Radlett, as a brilliant half century from Naomi Dattani saw her side to an eight wicket victory.

We'll have to wait a little longer for the London rivalry to resume again this year, however we hope that as many Middlesex members and supporters will be able to travel to the Oval in July for the rearranged fixture on the 14th to cheer the side on.
