SECOND ELEVEN FACE TWO MCCL REPRESENTATIVE SIDES THIS WEEK

MIDDLESEX SECOND ELEVEN TO TAKE ON TWO MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDES THIS WEEK AT TEDDINGTON AND HORSEY

On Tuesday 26th July and Thursday 28th July, Middlesex Second Eleven will take on two sides made up of players representing the top three tiers of the Middlesex County Cricket League, with both matches starting at 11am.

With opportunities for the county's very best recreational players to put their skills to the test against the county players, the two matches promise to be hard fought encounters with plenty of aspiring talent on show.

The top thirty Clubs in the Middlesex County Cricket League structure were asked in early July to nominate their players for selection in the two matches, based on a number of different criteria, as outlined below;

With nominations received, a panel made up of selectors who regularly watch MCCL fixtures, have selected the two MCCL sides to play Middlesex Seconds, based on the above criteria and supported by statistics.

Tuesday's match at Teddington will see the following MCCL representative side in action:

George Collins - Shepherd's Bush Cricket Club (batter)

Joel Curtis - Crouch End Cricket Club (batter)

Nattim Hassam - Crouch End Cricket Club (batter/spin bowler)

Amartya Kaul - Brondesbury Cricket Club (batter)

Michael Levitt - Stanmore Cricket Club (batter/seam bowler)

Ben Lockrose - Hampstead Cricket Club (spinner)

Idris Otto-Mian - Shepherd's Bush Cricket Club (batter/seam bowler)

Aman Patel - Indian Gymkhana Cricket Club (wicket-keeper/batter)

William Robertson - Richmond Cricket Club (seam bowler)

Fin Trenouth - Shepherd's Bush Cricket Club (wicket-keeper batter)

Asa Tribe - Crouch End Cricket Club (batter)

The MCCL side to face Middlesex Seconds on Thursday is still being finalised and will be announced when selection has been completed.

Ahead of the two MCCL fixtures this week, Middlesex's Head of Men's Performance Cricket, Alan Coleman, commented:

"We are really looking forward to these fixtures and are putting out strong Middlesex sides in both matches. Over half our side will have had first eleven experience, and three of them will have featured in the Hundred last year, which will allow us to see just how well the MCCL players can perform against quality opposition in a match situation.

"These two games are providing recreational players who are currently not in the county set-up with the opportunity to showcase their skills to us, allowing us to make an assessment on whether they have what it takes to develop their games further.

"There are some fantastically talented MCCL players on show across both matches, all deserving of their places in the representative sides and worthy of this opportunity. We're looking forward to seeing them in action and to seeing where this could lead for some of them."
