It is disappointing that we must take action to inform those that engage with the Club on our social media platforms of what is deemed appropriate behaviour.
Whilst the vast majority of users on our platforms are able to post rationally and sensibly, there is a small minority of users who believe that the platforms should be used as a forum to post hateful and abusive comments.
Following and supporting a professional sports team has its ups and downs – we completely understand that, and we also understand the disappointment our fans and members experience when results do not go the way we want them to!
HOWEVER - to react to this disappointment on the Club’s social media channels with personal abuse, hateful comments, foul language, attacks on individuals, and vitriolic criticism of those at the Club is NOT acceptable!
We have had cause to delete many hurtful posts and to ban several users in recent weeks for continuous abuse and use of behaviour which we deem be wholly unacceptable.
The players, staff, players’ families and friends, and young fans often interact with the Club across our social media channels, and for them to witness such levels of abuse is just not acceptable.
Please can we ask all users to consider the impact of their words, to post responsibly, be supportive, and to refrain from posting abusive comments. Let’s work together to make social media a more welcoming environment for all.
Many thanks from Middlesex Cricket
