Across 25th to 28th August, the game of cricket once again comes together to celebrate and encourage LGBTQ+ participation in Cricket.
It is the fifth consecutive year that cricket has got behind Stonewall's campaign, which will see players across the game wearing rainbow laces at several key fixtures throughout the campaign period, including at the two Royal London Cup play-off matches, The Hundred, and for the first time ever at England Men’s LV= Insurance Test match against South Africa at Emirates Old Trafford.
Rainbow Laces messaging will feature at all professional games across the weekend, alongside branded stumps and a presence on big screens at matches.
With Middlesex's Men's side not in competitive action over the weekend, we will be showing our support online, changing our digital logos to proudly show the rainbow colours, with our website displaying the rainbow banner throughout the duration of the campaign and promoting the campaign across our social media channels..
Middlesex are also hugely proud to be supporting the first ever LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Cricket Conference, being held at Edgbaston Cricket Club next Thursday, on 1st September, hosted by both Graces Cricket Club and the Birmingham Unicorns Cricket Club. For details of the Conference and to register to attend, please click HERE.
The ECB are spearheading the game's support for Stonewall's campaign, and this year they have been working with Proud Surrey – the first LGBTQ+ supporters’ group in cricket – to create a new national supporters’ group for the LGBTQ+ community. Launched this summer as Pride in Cricket, the group aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for fans at venues around England and Wales, as well as monthly email updates and social events. Fans can now register their interest in joining the group online, HERE, and follow the @PrideInCricket social media channels for updates.
