2022 was a strong year for Middlesex Cricket’s Boys youth structure with over 150 days of cricket enjoyed by age groups from under-11 to under-18.
The under-16s are through to the final of their ECB national competition after defeating Surrey in the semi-final last Sunday.
Captain, Eddie Campion, made 64 with James Isbell (38), Pansilu Wijesinghe (36) and Absar Muhammad (33) all passing 30 adding valuable contributions as Middlesex posted 230/9 in 50 overs.
Ben Salter (2/35) and Wijesinghe (2/42) were the stand-out performers with the ball as Surrey were restricted to 205/8 at Purley Cricket Club as Middlesex were victorious by 25 runs. They will meet Yorkshire in Loughborough on 18th September.
The under-18s topped their three-day Championship group, defeating Hampshire and Surrey in the process. They also drew matches against Essex, Kent and Sussex – ending their campaign unbeaten.
Our under-14s also enjoyed a successful campaign, reaching the semi-finals of their respective competition, playing Surrey but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way.
Elsewhere, the under-11s showed great progress – only losing one external fixture and enjoyed a week-long festival at Shrewsbury School.
Our under-12s participated in a week-long festival at Rugby School – beating Lancashire, Yorkshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.
The under-13 group played a number of games, with a highlight being a two-day match at Eastcote, where we narrowly defeated Surrey in the final balls.
A number of youth players were recognised by being invited to participate in regional competitions at various age groups.
Sebastian Morgan, Isbell and Wijesinghe represented London and East at the ECB’s under-15 Bunbury Festival, whilst Noah Cornwall, Harry Seagrave and Aaryan Sawant participated in the ECB’s Super 4s competition at under-17 level.
Sawant and Nathan Fernandes played for England Young Lions Invitational XI against the touring Sri Lanka under-19s.
There is a long list of stand-out individual performances, with 15 centuries and 12 five-wicket hauls across the pathway.
Nathan Fernandes made two scores of 160+ in the under-18s, Aaryan Sawant notched two centuries in the under-18s (as an under-16 cricketer), whilst Dylan Rawal has two hundreds to his name in the U16s.
Omar Shah returned remarkable figures in an under-11 game against Warwickshire, taking 6/0 in five overs.
All the hard work put in by our dedicated coaching team was rewarded when 10 players made their debuts for the Club’s Second Eleven this summer:
