Five Middlesex players are in contention to be involved in the Disability Premier League (DPL) final tomorrow.
Mohammad Farooq, Jai Charan, Jake Oakes, Umesh Valjee and Elliot Brown are set to feature in the showpiece event as Pirates take on Tridents at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol in front of the Sky Sports camera.
In a historic first, the final will act as the opening game of a double-header with England Women taking on India Women afterwards in the third and final Vitality IT20.
The match will round off a successful tournament, with 12 Middlesex representatives in total taking part.
Four final group matches took place in the Wirral last weekend as Neston Cricket Club played hosts.
Tridents v Black Cats
Tridents won the toss and elected to bat first – making good use of their decision by making 184/5 in their 20 overs.
Daniel Bowser hit an unbeaten 64 off 43 balls, striking 10 fours and a six along the way. Opener, Jamie Goodwin, scored 31 and Joel Harris made 29 – chipping in too.
Middlesex’s James Nordin and George Greenway went wicketless, however, the latter did take a catch and Maddox Colby was involved in a run out.
The weather intervened and as a result, Black Cats were set a revised target of 110 from 10 overs.
Greenway struck an unbeaten 30, but others struggled around him as Black Cats could only manage 74/6.
Pirates v Hawks
Pirates chased down their target of 145 in quick-time as they secured a seven-wicket win over Hawks.
Only 16.4 overs were needed to wrap up the game, with captain, Anthony Clapham hitting 57 and wicketkeeper, Ronnie Jackson, making 39.
Middlesex’s Sammy Kumar went wicketless as Kester Sainsbury ended with 2/28 in four overs.
In the first innings, Alfie Pyle top-scoring with 68 off 59 balls. Only Callum Flynn made a contribution of note as Hawks made 144/4 in 20 overs.
Farooq Mohammad took two catches as Jordan Dore picked up 2/29 in his allotted overs.
Tridents v Pirates
In the dress rehearsal for tomorrow’s final, Pirates edged out Tridents by five runs.
Batting first, Anthony Clapham showed his class for Pirates, by scoring 68 off 61 deliveries in a knock which featured six fours and two sixes.
William Flynn made 35 and Liam Thomas made 24, whilst Mohammad Farooq finished unbeaten on 15 as the side managed 166/8 in their innings.
Farooq and Jaidev Charan both claimed a wicket each and helped keep the Tridents batters quiet – four of which made starts, making over 20.
Black Cats v Hawks
Hawks finished their DPL campaign on a high, ending it with an eight-wicket victory over Black Cats.
Winning the toss and bowling first, Hawks managed to restrict their opponents to 133/9, with George Greenway making 39 before being bowled by Chris Edwards who finished with 3/27 in four overs.
In the reply, Callum Flynn notched a half-century, scoring 53 and Alfie Pyle scored an unbeaten 49
James Nordin picked up a wicket, ending with figures of 1/15 to bring his campaign to a successful close.
