At last week's County Championship clash between Middlesex and Glamorgan, the Seaxe Club presented the Club with a cheque for £6,000 to provide bursary placements for young cricketers to take part in All-Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes.
On hand at Lord's during the lunch interval on day three, were Seaxe Club senior representatives Glen Birkwood and Peter Jackson, who presented the cheque to Middlesex's Interim Director of Participation and Safeguarding, Josh Knappett.
Seaxe Club have for many years, supported Middlesex Cricket with bursaries and donations to support youth cricket within the county, and in the past have made donations to help the likes of David Nash, Nick Compton, Paul Weekes, Andrew Strauss, Toby Roland-Jones, and many others young cricketers in the early stages of their journeys in the game to travel overseas to broaden their cricketing skills.
Seaxe Club's donation will provide much needed funding for children from under privileged families to take part in the ECB's national entry level programmes, with all-Stars cricket providing programmes for youngsters aged between 5 and 8 years of age and Dynamos for youngsters aged 9 to 12.
Seaxe Club is Middlesex Cricket's 'Club within a Club' - A Club for members to socialise with and meet fellow likeminded Middlesex members. It's objective is to support cricket throughout the county of Middlesex by various means – including bursaries//kit provision/awards/coaching costs etc…
Being a member of the Seaxe Club you will be contributing to the future strength of Middlesex Cricket by supporting, nurturing and developing the stars of the future. A lot of youngsters may have the talent but not the wherewithal to develop it without the financial assistance and guidance from the Seaxe Club - all done through the support of Seaxe Club's members.
Seaxe Club members have access to a private box in the Tavern Stand for all home County Championship games, where they can enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits and cake throughout the day. Members are invited to the Seaxe Club's end of season drinks reception, mid-season box reception, Christmas lunch, and winter lunches in local pubs. They receive a copy of the Seaxe News 3 times a year and also have the the opportunity to partake in the Seaxe lottery draw 4 times a year. All available for a tiny annual subscription fee.
