Over the winter months ahead, we'll be keeping a close eye on the Middlesex players who have travelled overseas to play throughout the winter. In this first update, we focus on young seamer Ethan Bamber!
Ethan has teamed up with Adelaide University Cricket Club (AUCC) to play Grade cricket in South Australia over the winter.
Adelaide University play in the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). Formed in 1907, AUCC is one of the longest established clubs in SACA and plays SACA Premier Grade One cricket
Over the years, AUCC has had some outstanding cricketers play at the University Oval Cricket Ground, including many players who went on the represent their countries at Test level, including Australians Tim May and Michael Slater, and overseas players Nasser Hussain, Liam Plunkett, Carl Hooper, Ben Foakes and Jake Ball.
At the weekend, Ethan played for AUCC against Prospect, in round four of the West End Men's Grade One competition and had a day to remember with the ball.
His Captain, William Bosisto, won the toss and elected to bowl, handing the ball to Ethan to open the bowling.
He proceeded to run through the visitors' batting line-up, dismissing both openers, clean bowled for just 3 and 14, and then went on to take the wicket of the next three Prospect batters, dismissing them for just 6, 3 & 4, and claimed the wickets of the first five Prospect batters with just 32 runs on the board. After a break, he then returned for another spell and duly wrapped up the tail to close the innings with the visitors having made just 138.
Ethan finished the innings with incredible innings figures of 7 for 53 from 18.1 overs.
