We are thrilled to announce that Middlesex Disability cricketer, George Greenway, has been named as one of the nominees for the 2022 Deaf Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Furthermore, George and four of his Middlesex Disability teammates have also been named as nominees for the Deaf Sports team of the Year Award!
Joining George on the nominees list are Middlesex and England Deaf team colleagues Umesh Valjee, Moazzam Rashid, Farooq Mohammed and Jake Oakes.
As Captain of the England Deaf side, George played a key role in leading England to Ashes success down under earlier this year, as his side secured an emphatic 6-2 series win across both white-ball formats. They followed up a 3-2 T20 series win with a 3-0 ODI victory to lift the Ashes trophy.
The Deaf Sportsperson of the year is awarded to a participating sportsman or woman whose actions have most captured our imaginations during 2021/22, through working hard, making a commitment, having a good personality, individual achievement, and greatest impression.
The sports team of the year is awarded to the UK Home Nations or Great Britain team which has achieved the most notable performance in Deaf/Mainstream sports during 2021/22.
We wish George and the England Deaf team every success in the forthcoming awards.
Michael Wilson, Head Coach of Middlesex Disability commented:
"We are so proud of each of the Middlesex lads who played a part in bringing home the Ashes this summer. For George to lead the side to victory is a massive achievement and we wish each and every one of them every success in the awards.
"If Middlesex members and supporters can take a minute to give a vote for George and the England Deaf team then I'm sure they would appreciate your support"
