Middlesex Cricket’s Elite Player Group (EPG) travelled to Spain earlier this month for a training camp.
The objective of the trip was to break up the winter programme so players could develop their skills on grass before they move outdoors upon their return to England.
A total of 15 players and three coaches travelled to Desert Springs Resort for a five-day camp, comprising of outdoor training and matches against Surrey.
Day one of the trip involved some stretching and fielding drills when they arrived, which included high catches and ground fielding.
Following some rest after an early start on the opening day, the group headed to the nets where the seam bowlers were able to run in off their full run ups and the spinners were able to bowl on pitches that provided assistance to them.
Rain thwarted any idea of a match against Surrey on day three, but a short fielding session was followed by some conditioning work.
The penultimate day saw the boys take on surrey in a 50-over match before a repeat fixture (40 overs) on day five.
Everyone involved with the EPG would like to thank everyone who donated to help make this trip possible and also Ellie Broom, who lead the boys through two dance routines as part of the fundraising efforts.
