This coming Sunday, 30th July, Middlesex Cricket head to Falkland Cricket Club for the annual National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA) showcase match, when we’ll take on Berkshire Cricket in a fifty-over white-ball encounter.
The annual NCCA showcase match features National counties taking on their neighbouring First-Class counties, giving the best National County players around the country the opportunity to showcase their skills against professional players.
This year’s match is a repeat fixture of the game we played at Falkland CC in 2022, when Berkshire were one of a handful of National County sides to upset the odds when securing victory over their professional neighbours, as they ran out comfortable winners in a high scoring affair.
Joe Cracknell smashed 147 off 94 balls, and Jack Davies a quickfire 74 off 50 balls, as Middlesex posted 350 having won the toss and batted first. Despite chasing a huge total, the NCCA players successfully chased it down, with comparative ease, as centuries from Dan Lincoln, formerly of Middlesex, and Johnny Connell, took them to victory with over 9 overs to spare.
Middlesex will have revenge in their sights for this year’s return fixture, and it will act as a timely warm-up ahead of the Club’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign kicking off at the Ageas Bowl against Hampshire just a few days later.
The match on the 30th of July will be played on Falkland’s Enborne Lodge Ground and will get underway at 11am, with members and spectators encouraged to attend, with admission to the game free for all spectators. Spectators can register for entry tickets to match in advance by clicking HERE and will be entered into a draw to win a signed Middlesex playing shirt. There will be opportunities to make donations to the Berkshire Cricket Foundation throughout the day.
Food and drink outlets will be available for spectators around the ground, with an all-day BBQ available, with the Bowlers Arms also open throughout the day serving drinks and a limited food menu. Spectator are encouraged to bring their own seating with them, although limited seating is available at the ground.
Car parking is available on Falkland CC’s second ground, the Wilson Carlisle Ground, which is just a 250m walk from the main ground.
Newbury station is 2.5 miles away from Falkland CC, with frequent trains running from London Paddington and Reading.
We look forward to seeing Middlesex members and supporters at Falkland Cricket Club next weekend and our thanks go to all at the Club for hosting us this coming weekend.
Berkshire Cricket will be live streaming the match for those who aren't able to attend in person, which will be available to watch in the Match Centre on the Middlesex website.
