Middlesex return to action tomorrow when they take on Essex at Chelmsford under the lights in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
The Seaxes will be looking to register their first win of the campaign having lost their rain-affected opener to Hampshire last week via the DLS method, before the final London derby of the summer was thwarted by rain at Radlett at the weekend.
Tomorrow’s hosts are also looking to open their account – having lost to Nottinghamshire and Hampshire as well as a game to the rain.
Tom Westley is Essex’s top wicket taker, having taken two at the Ageas Bowl and as many in the defeat to Nottinghamshire at home in their opening match. Australian, Beau Webster, top-scored with 73 on Tuesday and was supported by Simon Harmer who reached his maiden List-A half-century.
As for Middlesex, Luke Hollman and Sam Robson managed to pick up two wickets before the rain arrived in Southampton in our first game – whilst Ryan Higgins (78) and Joe Cracknell (64) notched half-centuries; they’ll be hoping to continue their good form.
In the previous encounter between these two sides in 2021, Essex won by nine wickets with Sir Alastair Cook and Westley showing their class as Essex reached their target of 213 with ease. Jack Davies posted his highest score of 70.
This is the first of two big games of this weekend as the side then travel to Beckenham on Sunday to play Kent. Four crucial points are up for grabs in CM2 and BR3!
