We are delighted to announce that Middlesex Academy’s right-arm medium-fast bowler, Sebastian Morgan has been selected to represent his country in England’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s U19 World Cup.
The 16-year-old all-rounder, who plays his Club cricket for Ealing, is a member of Middlesex’s EPG squad, and has played his way through Middlesex's Age group system since Under 14 level. He made his Second Eleven debut for the Club this year, in both the Second Eleven Championship and the Second Eleven T20, both against Essex, hitting an unbeaten 43 with the bat on his maiden Championship innings at Merchant Taylors' School in September.
He has been a regular part of Middlesex's under 16's side who have successfully lifted the ECB's national Under 16 title in each of the last two seasons
In October he was named in England's Under 19 squad for their tour to India in November, playing twice in the quadrangular-series against Bangladesh, where he impressed, picking up 2 for 47 on his international debut. He will continue his international journey at the World Cup, looking to build on an impressive start to his career with England's Young Lions.
England will play in Group B of the tournament alongside hosts South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. The tournament gets underway on the 13th of January, with England looking to avenge defeat in the final last time out.
Everyone at Middlesex Cricket would like to congratulate Sebastian on his inclusion in the World Cup squad and we wish him every success at the tournament.
Middlesex Player Pathway head Coach, Mark Lane, commented:
"We are quite rightly proud of Sebastian for all he continues to achieve, and he thoroughly deserves the opportunity to represent England at the World Cup.
"He has a fantastic work ethic and continues to develop his game, and we are excited about what the future holds for him. We wish him and the rest of the England lads all the best of luck at the World Cup."
