If you fancy spending an evening in the company of two of England’s finest cricketers, tucking into a decent curry, with a couple of drinks from a discounted bar, all whilst raising funds for two fantastic charities, then this is a night not to be missed!
From 7pm, on Thursday 2nd May 2024, Sunbury Cricket Club, the home Club of Middlesex favourites Toby Roland-Jones, Richard Johnson, and David Nash, to name but a few, will be hosting what promises to be a fantastic night of food and riveting cricket talk, hosted by England and Middlesex legend, Angus Fraser, with guest speaker, England and Surrey legend, Alec Stewart, to raise funds for both Middlesex in the Community and Surplus to Supper.
Middlesex in the Community, Middlesex Cricket’s new charitable foundation, which promotes community participation and engagement in cricket to get more people playing the game, and Surplus to Supper, a charity that bridges the gap between food waste and food poverty, invite guests to join them for what promises to be an enjoyable evening to raise essential funds for both causes.
The evening will comprise two Q&A sessions, one hosted by Angus Fraser, who will initially discuss the incredible playing career of Alec Stewart, before Surplus to Supper will then serve a delicious curry for dinner, with guests then able to ask their own questions to Stewart in a second Q&A session to round off the evening. Refreshments will be available all night at the bar.
The evening kicks off at 7pm, and is scheduled to end at 10pm, and there will be a raffle, auction, and table quiz on offer, with some amazing prizes up for grabs – all to help raise funds for these two worthy charities.
Host, Fraser, made 86 appearances for his country, and 510 appearances for Middlesex, picking up 1,228 wickets in his playing career. His efforts were surpassed by that of the evening’s guest speaker, Stewart, who made 303 appearances for England and a further 587 appearances for Surrey. He finished his playing career as England second highest leading Test run scorer, England’s leading ODI run scorer and was England’s most capped Test and ODI player, amassing almost 41,000 runs in a glittering playing career.
