Middlesex begin their final pre-season match tomorrow when they travel to the Cloud Ground in Chelmsford to face Essex.
Richard Johnson has named a squad of 12 or the clash, which will captained by new recruit Leus du Plooy
Johnson’s men will be using this as valuable practice ahead of the opening Vitality County Championship clash against Glamorgan at Lord’s on Friday.
Henry Brookes, Josh De Caires, Ryan Higgins and Sam Robson all return for this fixture, which will be played with a red Kookaburra ball.
So far, Max Holden and Higgins have impressed with the bat, each scoring half-centuries. There were also scores above 40 for Jack Davies and du Plooy. With the ball, a number of players have chipped in with wickets, getting overs in their legs ahead of the new season.
Essex have yet to play in England this year, but recently enjoyed a trip to the United Arab Emirates where they played against other counties, which was useful preparation ahead of the new campaign.
Spectators are welcome to attend this fixture, with seating available in the Doug Insole Pavilion. Play will begin at 10.30am each day.
