Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that Andy Hill has accepted the offer to become Head Coach of the Club’s Disability Cricket for the 2024 season.
Hill takes over from Michael Wilson, who chose to move on from the role of Head of Disability Cricket earlier in the year. Hill acted as Wilson’s Assistant Coach at Middlesex in 2023 and has a wealth of experience of coaching in Disability Cricket.
Hill was Head Coach for Northamptonshire’s Disability side for 10 of the 12 years he worked for the county. He also coached with England’s Learning Disability Squad between 2012 and 2015. Hill’s primary role will be coaching Middlesex’s D40 teams, and he will be joined by Stefan McKenzie, who will be the Head Coach of Middlesex’s Super 9’s squad.
Commentating on the appointment of Hill, Angus Fraser, said:
“Finding someone to replace Michael should be a difficult task because Michael made a huge contribution to Disability Cricket in Middlesex, and we thank him for that enormously. We have, however, been extremely fortunate to have had Andy working within our set-up. Andy is a high-quality coach and has an excellent reputation, and we are all looking forward to working with him.’
On becoming Head Coach Hill said:
“I am extremely honoured and excited to undertake the role of Head Coach.
“Cricket has been my sport and passion since I was young, and bridging the sport with talented cricketers who have a range of Disabilities whilst advocating the development of the opportunities available, has been a pleasurable and enveloping experience.
“The opportunity to continue this with Middlesex is one that I am very proud to undertake and thank all of those that have welcomed me into the role.”
