Middlesex return to Vitality County Championship action tomorrow when they take on Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.
The Seaxes will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season having secured a draw last time out in a rain-affected encounter against Leicestershire at Lord’s.
Our players will be feeling refreshed and rejuvenated after a round off last weekend, and will be hoping to strengthen their position in the Division Two standings, where they currently sit second - 10 points behind leaders Sussex and one ahead of this week's hosts, who are in fourth...
Both Sam Robson and Leus du Plooy struck centuries during our last outing, whilst both Ryan Higgins and Max Holden will be wishing to continue their fine starts to the summer. With the ball, Ethan Bamber and Higgins have led the way, and have been ably supported by Tom Helm and Toby Roland-Jones.
Glamorgan go into the game off the back of a nine-wicket win over Sussex in Cardiff on Monday. Colin Ingram (170) and Kiran Carlson (148) both made big centuries in the first innings. With the ball, Andy Gorvin took five wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 188 in their second innings. Former Middlesex man, James Harris, claimed four scalps, as did Mir Hamza.
Australian international Marnus Labuschagne arrived in Wales this week and will feature in the Glamorgan side at Sophia Gardens.
During the reverse fixture in the opening round of the year, Sam Northeast (335) recorded the highest-ever individual score at Lord’s, eclipsing Graham Gooch’s record of 333 for England against India set in 1990. Middlesex also recorded their highest-ever team total at Lord’s (655), beating the 612/8 declared against Nottinghamshire in 1921.
For those not making the journey to Cardiff, a live stream will be made available by our hosts, which will be made available through the match centre on the Middlesex website.
