Middlesex go into the opening clash of our 2024 Blast campaign unbeaten from our opening seven County Championship matches, with confidence in the camp on a high, and we've named a fourteen man squad to face Kent Spitfires at Chelmsford tomorrow evening, as we look to keep our strong start to the season going.
Captaining the side this season is Stephen Eskinazi, who will lead the side out at Chelmsford tomorrow with high hopes that his side can continue the form they showed at the end of last season's Blast campaign, when we won three of our last four games in the South Group.
A disappointing start to last year's campaign saw any hopes of qualification to the knockout stages end early for Middlesex, and Eskinazi will be keen to avoid any repeat of that this year, with sights set on a strong start to the 2024 campaign.
The squad includes some strong, hard-hitting batters in the line-up, with the likes of Max Holden, Joe Cracknell, Ryan Higgins, Jack Davies, and Eskinazi himself all proven in this format, with some heavy hitters filling the middle order too, in Martin Andersson and Luke Hollman.
The addition of Leus du Plooy to Middlesex's ranks this year will add a huge amount to the squad, and his experience and proven track record will add valuable quality to the Seaxes side.
As will the additional of paceman Henry Brookes, who shone in this format at his previous county, Warwickshire. Brookes joins a six-strong seam attack of Andersson, Higgins, Tom Helm, Blake Cullen and Noah Cornwell, with plenty of spin options for Eskinazi to turn to in du Plooy, Nathan Fernandes, Hollman and Josh de Caires all included
