DISABILITY SECOND ELEVEN DEFEATED AT SURREY

DISABILITY SECOND ELEVEN DEFEATED AT SURREY

Middlesex's Disability Second Eleven suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost out to Surrey by 70 runs in their latest D40 Quest League match at Godalming Cricket Club.

After being asked to field first, Middlesex claimed seven wickets in the Surrey innings as the hosts racked up 195/7 in their 40 overs.

Standout performers with the ball included Mozzam Rashid and Chloe Sainsbury, who claimed 2/32 and 2/34 respectively.

Surrey were reduced to 44/4 at one stage and in need of a partnership after faltering early on, and they got one through James Grindrod (65) and Jason Talmer (54), who shared a stand of 84 for the sixth wicket - which played a large part in helping their side almost reach 200 and frustrate the Middlesex attack.

Middlesex made a steady start in the reply, with William Sims (35) and skipper, Simon Lycett (24), sharing an opening partnership worth 33 runs.

Despite being 100/4 and in with a shout of claiming the spoils, the visitors collapsed - losing their remaining six wickets for 25 runs - allowing their London rivals to claim victory and earn 30 points from the match, with Middlesex taking six from the fixture.

Next up for Middlesex is Essex at home at the end of June, and they will be looking to return to winning ways - consolidating their position at the summit of the league table.
