Middlesex Disability Super 9s claimed their first win of the 2024 season, and what a win it was, as they ran out comprehensive winner by 147 runs against Kent Disability.
Having lost the toss, Middlesex we’re asked to bat by the hosts, but a flying start from the opening pair of Rakim Richmond (16) and Ashan Rajasinghe (30), left Kent ruing their decision.
Shaurya Deshmukh, batting at three for Middlesex, was the standout performer for the Seaxes, knocking a spectacular 55 not out off 37 balls, including 9 boundaries.
Runs continued to flow for The Seaxes with Waris Baharami (21) and Dylan Patel (10) both making solid contributions to the total, as Middlesex finished their 30 overs on 177 for 7.
In Kent’s reply, Middlesex’s bowling attack were ruthless, as they ripped through the opposition batting line-up, on their way to securing a resounding victory.
The standout bowlers for Middlesex we’re Dylan Patel and Baharami, who both finished with incredible figures of 3 for 4, capping a fine all-round game for Baharami, as it was for Deshmukh, who having already contributed with the bat, picked up 2 for 2 with the ball, with Zak Belchamber picking up 1 for 2.
Dismissed for just 30 inside 16 overs, no one Kent batter reached double figures, as Middlesex wrapped up a comprehensive win, by 147 runs.
Middlesex’s Super 9s side are next in action in a fortnight’s time when they take on Hampshire.
