NOAH CORNWELL CALLED UP TO ENGLAND UNDER-19 SQUAD TO FACE SRI LANKA

Young Middlesex seamer, Noah Cornwell, has been named in England’s 16-man Under-19 squad to face Sri Lanka in three Youth One-Day Internationals later this month.

Cornwell, 19, made his Middlesex debut in this season’s opening Vitality Blast encounter against Kent Spitfires in Chelmsford and took his first wicket for the Club at Lord’s in the recent clash against Glamorgan.

The left-arm quick is held in high regard having come through the youth setup of the Club and has impressed consistently for the Second Eleven in recent times since making his debut in the Second Eleven Championship against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford in 2021 and has made six further appearances.

He has also featured in the Second Eleven T20 competition, having made 10 appearances since the start of the 2022 season.

England will play three Youth ODIs in Chelmsford and Hove between 28th June and 3rd July before two unofficial Test matches at Cheltenham College and Wormsley – with a squad for those fixtures to be announced at a later date.

Middlesex’s Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman, said:

“Noah’s call-up to England Under-19s is testament to the hard work and commitment he has shown, not just since he joined the professional squad, but also in the years leading up to this.

“To have another one of our academy graduates gain recognition at this level shows the strength of our youth pathway and the dedication of our coaching staff, who work tirelessly to prepare players for this moment.

“Our thanks must also go to our friends at Radlett Cricket Club, and Hertfordshire Cricket, who have played an important role in Noah’s development.”

Everyone at Middlesex Cricket wishes Noah all the very best in the upcoming series.
