Middlesex's head into the first of four home Vitality Blast matches at Lord's tomorrow when we entertain Glamorgan under the lights at 6.15pm.
The match forms part of a double-header, with Sunrisers taking on South East Stars earlier in the day at 2.15pm.
First Team Coach Richard Johnson has named an unchanged squad of fourteen for the clash, the third match of our campaign, following defeats in our opening two clashes against Kent Spitfires and Essex.
Against Essex last weekend, an improved batting performance saw us post a competitive total of 203 for 7 from our 20 overs, with Max Holden leading the way with an unbeaten 85 from just 42 deliveries, with support coming from Martin Andersson, who added 49 from 31 balls.
With the ball however, the bowlers took some punishment, mainly from an assault from Essex batter Michael Pepper, who smashed 101 from 44 balls - sending the ball to all parts of Chelmsford. With only Ryan Higgins going at less that ten runs per over, this will be an area of concern that will need addressing for the rest of the campaign.
Tomorrow's visitors Glamorgan suffered defeat in their opening match, going down by 19 runs to Surrey in Cardiff, before they got their campaign up and running at the weekend with a 25 runs victory over Sussex.
The corresponding fixture last year was played at Merchant Taylors' School and what was witnessed was an absolute run fest. Batting first, Glamorgan's batters went off like a train, and just kept going! Hundreds from Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke took the visitors to a huge and imposing total of 238 for 3 in their 20 overs. In reply, the Middlesex batters gave it everything, and after 10 overs Stephen Eskinazi and Joe Cracknell had taken the score on to 129 for 0 and we looked to be on course to chase it down, before a flurry of wickets applied the brakes and saw Glamorgan's bowlers close out the game and secure a 29 run win.
Back to back defeats have set Middlesex's net run rate right back, and we'll need to start winning quickly and winning well, to turn this around, and we'll be targeting tomorrow's first outing at Lord's as the perfect time to get things moving in the right direction.
