EPG QUICK NAAVYA SHARMA MAKES ENGLAND U19 TEST DEBUT

NAAVYA SHARMA MAKES ENGLAND UNDER 19 TEST DEBUT

Yesterday was a special day for young Middlesex EPG pace bowler Naavya Sharma, who made his England Under 19 Test debut at John Paul Getty's Wormsley Estate against Sri Lanka Under 19s.

18-year-old, Isleworth born, Sharma, played in the Berkshire age-groups at Under 15s level before joining the Middlesex age-group system at Under 16 level.

He has since gone on to represent the Club's County Age Group sides at Under 16 and Under 18s levels, and is a current member of the Middlesex EPG squad, or the Academy as it was formerly known.

A tall right-arm quick, who bowls at a sharp pace, Sharma made his Second Eleven debut for the Club last summer - the first of two appearances he made in the Second Eleven Championship in 2023. He has played a further two Second Eleven Championship matches this season and has shown just what he's capable of when returning figures of 3 for 22 from 13 overs against a strong Hampshire Second Eleven at Radlett, which he followed up with 4 for 30 from 9 overs against Lancashire Seconds at Aigburth.

This year he has also represented the Second Eleven in two T20 matches, bowling with good economy against Hampshire and Surrey Seconds, and picking up the wicket of Ben Geddes when playing against Surrey.

Sharma's England Under 19 call-up came at the eleventh hour, when he was drafted into the squad as an injury replacement, however yesterday at Wormsley, he more than justified his call-up, bowling tightly with the new ball and picking up figures of 1 for 29 from 9.4 overs.

We wish Nav all the very best of luck in the current Test match against Sri Lanka.
