LATYMER SCHOOL WIN UNDER 15 GIRLS SCHOOLS COMPETITION

LATYMER SCHOOL CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF UNDER 15 GIRLS SCHOOLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION OF MIDDLESEX COMPETITION

Latymer Upper School proved to be too strong for Highgate School as they won the Schools Cricket Association of Middlesex U15 Girls Final on 4 July. In the 20 over per side Final Latymer, playing at home, successfully reached their target of 125 in the 17th over for the loss of two wickets to complete an eight wicket victory.

Bowman was the star for Latymer, taking 2 for 21 in four overs and scoring an excellent unbeaten 57 off just 52 balls. Bowman was not the only Latymer bowler to make life difficult for Highgate’s batters, she was ably supported by Chawner (2 for 21), Purvis (2 for 23) and Fulton (2 for 13).

If Highgate were to defend their total of 125-8 they needed early wickets, but these did not materialise. Following the loss of Walsh, Highgate may have believed they had had a chance of victory but an unbeaten partnership between Bowman and Purvis, who completed an excellent match for herself, with an unbeaten 29 off 24 balls, ended those dreams.

As County Champions Latymer will be entered in a national competition run by the England Schools Cricket Association in 2025, and everybody at Middlesex wishes them well.

Middlesex in the Community would like to thank all the schools that have entered this years competition and the teachers for the time they have given to girls and boys playing cricket. We look forward to doing it all again in 2025.
