Middlesex allrounder, Saskia Horley, powered Scotland to a 62-run victory over Papua New Guinea in Utrecht yesterday.
Horley, 24, struck a century and then claimed four wickets with the ball as her side claimed a victory in their opening match of a tri-series featuring Papua New Guinea and the Netherlands.
Having been put into bat, Horley seemed unfazed as wickets tumbled around her. The New South Wales-born cricketer struck 100 from 121 balls in an innings which included 12 boundaries. This was her maiden century for Scotland.
Katherine Fraser made the only other notable contribution, hitting an unbeaten 74 – striking eight fours and a six – as Scotland posted 258/6 in their 50 overs.
With the ball, Horley ripped through the middle order – claiming 4/24 in her 10 overs. She first removed Tanya Ruma for 25, before dismissing Kevau Frank (4), Pauke Siaka (44) and Henao Thomas (2).
Sunrisers spinner, Abtaha Maqsood, also made a valuable contribution with the ball taking 4/37 in her allotted 10 overs as Papua New Guinea were all out for 196 in 46.1 overs.
Scotland are next in action tomorrow when they face the Netherlands in the second match of their tri-series.
