MIDDLESEX V HAMPSHIRE | SQUAD & MATCH PREVIEW | ONE-DAY CUP

MIDDLESEX V HAMPSHIRE | SQUAD & MATCH PREVIEW | METRO BANK ONE-DAY CUP

Middlesex finish their Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign tomorrow when Hampshire are the visitors to Merchant Taylors’ School.

The Seaxes’ hopes of reaching the knockout stages of England and Wales’s premier 50-over competition ended on Sunday as we were defeated by eight wickets at the hands of Somerset at Lord’s.

Richard Johnson’s side have played some good cricket throughout the competition, having won three matches against Northamptonshire, Kent and Lancashire respectively.

Joe Cracknell has been the stand-out batter in this year’s competition, having amassed 296 runs at an average of 49.33. Captain, Mark Stoneman, is the second highest with 213 runs to his name, having averaged 42.60 in the competition to-date in 2024.

With the ball, Henry Brookes leads the way with nine wickets and Luke Hollman is just behind him with eight scalps across the seven matches played so far…

As for tomorrow’s visitors to Northwood, Hampshire, they can still qualify if they win and Derbyshire defeat Durham at Seat Unique Riverside in Chester-Le-Street. However, Derbyshire may miss out as Hampshire have a superior net run rate.

Hampshire have registered four wins in the competition so far, defeating Northamptonshire, Somerset, Lancashire and Derbyshire up to this point.

Ben Brown is Hampshire’s leading run-scorer in the 2024 One-Day Cup with 232, which includes a best-score of 139 not out against Northamptonshire. Tony Albert is the next highest with 198 runs in the seven matches played so far.

Dom Kelly is the county’s leading wicket-taker with 10 wickets. Former South Africa international, Kyle Abbott, is second in their list with seven scalps to his name.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s match and can be purchased here.

If you are unable to make it to Merchant Taylors’ School, don’t forget that a live stream will be available via the match centre on the Middlesex website.
