Middlesex Cricket can today announce that Robbie White will retire from professional cricket at the end of the season and will leave the Club.
Ealing born White, 29, played age group cricket for Middlesex from Under 13s through to Under 19s, and graduated from the Middlesex Academy before making his Second Eleven debut for the Club in 2013 – the first of over 130 Second Eleven appearances he made for Middlesex.
White signed professional terms with the Club in late 2017 and whilst having already made six earlier first-class appearances for Loughborough MCCU against county opposition, he made his Middlesex first-class debut in April 2018 against Durham MCCU. This was the first of 32 red-ball appearances he made for the Club in which he scored 1,330 runs at an average of 25.57.
His highest first-class score of 120 came in 2021 against Derbyshire in the County Championship, which he backed up with another hundred in the very next game against Sussex at Hove when hitting an unbeaten 110.
Across the two white-ball formats White made a further 11 appearances for Middlesex, hitting 213 runs, with a highest score of 55, against Durham at Radlett in 2021 in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Speaking of Robbie White’s decision to retire from the game, Middlesex Cricket’s MD of Cricket, Alan Coleman, commented:
“We would like to thank Robbie for everything he has done for Middlesex over the many years he has been at the Club.
“As a Middlesex born cricketer who grew up playing for his local side Ealing, Robbie has always been hugely proud to represent his home county, and he can leave enormously proud of everything he has achieved as a Middlesex player.
“Robbie retires having hit two first-class hundreds in his career, one scored at the Home of Cricket, which is a memory that he will always have of his time as professional cricketer.
“Robbie is a hugely likeable and popular character, and he will be missed by everyone at the Club, who wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
On his retirement from professional cricket, Robbie White commented:
“It has been a huge privilege to be part of the Middlesex squad for the last 10 years, having come through the pathway since I was 9 years old.
“I will always cherish the great memories I’ve had from the game, particularly here at Lord's, and I leave having given my absolute all to the Club.
“I would like to thank the people around me, my family, teammates, management and support staff who have made this such an enjoyable journey.
“I wish everyone at the club the very best and look forward to following the team as a fan next year and beyond.
“I’m excited for a new challenge in my life as I leave the game.”
