MITC HOST THANK YOU EVENINGS FOR CLUB VOLUNTEERS

Middlesex in the Community (MITC) expressed a small token of its thanks to the hundreds of volunteers at clubs in Middlesex by hosting five ‘Volunteer Thank You Evenings’ during the past two weeks. Evenings at Bushy Park CC, Enfield CC, Hornsey CC, Ealing CC and Eastcote CC allowed MITC to show its gratitude to those that commit countless hours of time to their local cricket club.

In total more than 120 volunteers from 40 clubs enjoyed a drink or two and some delicious food provided by the host venue. The evenings also gave MITC and its clubs an opportunity to discuss important matters that are affecting the game of cricket. The topics discussed included accessibility to clubs for State School children, the development of women and girl sections, umpiring and giving young people a voice at clubs.

‘Appreciating the tireless voluntary work that hundreds of people perform for the clubs in Middlesex is extremely important because without the commitment of these individuals the organisation and playing of cricket in the county would come to an abrupt and unsatisfactory halt.

Middlesex in the Community is a new entity and one of its principal reasons for existing is to help and support the clubs in Middlesex. Success, the look of which will vary from club to club, will only be achieved through the creation and development of strong trusting relationships, and these are what MITC want to build with its clubs. Trust and friendship must be earned and, over the coming months, MITC wants to create and develop alliances like this with its clubs.’

I would like to thank each of the clubs that hosted these evenings – each of you highlighted why you are valuable members of the local community. I would also like to thank the MITC staff - Jack Davis, Chloe Longdon, Raj Nath, Dan Reynolds, Thomas Pegler, Josh Knappett and Callum Millar – for their effort in making the evenings take place. Each has a role to play in helping develop club cricket in Middlesex, and they would love to hear from you to try to support you as best they can.’
