England Men’s Physically Disabled team have announced their squad for the upcoming quad series against Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan in Sri Lanka, with Middlesex players James Nordin and Sammy Kumar making the trip.
Head Coach Chris Highton has named a 15-strong group, for what will be England Men PD’s first series since their narrow 3-2 series defeat in India in March.
Both Nordin and Kumar featured in England PD's last tour to India, and played their part in what was a thrilling series.
Both will be looking forward to more international experience, against three quality opponents, on foreign soil, and will be looking to make their mark for their country in a series that will see England playing six times, twice each against hosts Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan respectively, with the top two competing in the final.
The full squad for the tour is named below:
Alex Hammond
Angus Brown
Anthony Clapham
Ben Sutton
Brendon Parr
Callum Flynn
Fred Bridges
Hugo Hammond
James Nordin (Middlesex)
Jamie Goodwin
Jordan Williams
Liam O'Brien
Liam Thomas
Sammy Kumar (Middlesex)
Will Flynn
Captain Callum Flynn said:
“We can’t wait to get out to Sri Lanka for this series. It will be great to play against three nations, it will be a great test of where we are as a group and we’ll be doing everything we can to make it all the way through to the final.
“We came pretty close in India but we couldn’t quite get over the line so we need to go one step further this time round. We’re also at a point now where players will begin to want to put their hands up for selection for next summer’s Pan-Disability series against India, which I think will add something really exciting for the group.”
Everyone at Middlesex Cricket wishes James and Sammy every success in the coming quad series.
