WALK | TALK | CONNECT EVENT A HUGE SUCCESS THIS WEEK IN EASTCOTE

LATEST WALK | TALK | CONNECT EVENT IN EASTCOTE A HUGE SUCCESS THIS WEEK

The Club would like to express its thanks to Martin Hadland, long-standing Middlesex member, for providing the following report and for his help in arranging our latest Walk | Talk | Connect event, held this week in Eastcote. Our thanks also go to Jeff Coleman for his assistance and to all at Eastcote Cricket Club for hosting the event.

On Tuesday this week we were delighted to welcome fifty members on our latest Walk | Talk | Connect event, as a group of intrepid walkers met at Pinner Station and walked just over 1.5 miles to Eastcote Cricket Club where they were joined by another fourteen Middlesex and Eastcote members .

Along the way we took in some of the area’s most historic sites, including Pinner High Street with its church dating back to 1234, the Queens Head pub dating back to 1635and its half-timbered eighteenth century buildings. We also walked via the beautiful Eastcote House Gardens which date back to the sixteenth century.

On arrival at Eastcote CC we were greeted and welcomed by John Clouting the Eastcote CC President and Middlesex Cricket Board Member.

After partaking of seasonal refreshments, we settled down for an hour to listen to Angus Fraser interview Mark Ramprakash about his illustrious career, which not only pored interesting for all observing, but also provided some fresh insights and some classic Gus dry humour.

There was then an opportunity for a Q&A session with Gus and Ramps providing some frank answers to members questions about their past experiences as players and their views on the current cricketing landscape.

At the end of the Q&A, collective thanks were expressed, through a hearty round of applause, to both Gus and Ramps for giving so freely and generously of their time and knowledge, to Eastcote CC for hosting us and for their hospitality, to Denise Broom of Eastcote CC for catering for the group, and to Jeff Coleman, a long standing member of both Middlesex and Eastcote, for providing mince pies for the event.

This was by some distance the best attended Walk | Talk | Connect event we have had since they started nearly two years ago and the Club are very much looking forward to continuing these popular events.

In February we are hoping to repeat last year’s walk from Croxley Green to Merchant Taylors School, where, on arrival, we will watch the squad go through their winter training drills in the Indoor School in preparation for the new season. Please keep an eye out for details of this event in the coming weeks and make sure you register early to join in.
