We are today delighted to unveil the 2025 fixtures for Middlesex Cricket’s three disability squads, with the announcement of fixtures in the D40 Quest League, the D40 Pursuit League, and the Super 9s League, along with one special bucket-list fixture in June at the Home of Cricket.
Whilst the focus for Middlesex’s D40 First Eleven will be the defence of their national Quest title, there will be much excitement ahead of what’s scheduled on 25th June, when, for the first time ever, they will have the honour of gracing the main square at Lord’s, playing in a T20 fixture against an MCC Select XI as part of MCC’s annual Disability Day at the Home of Cricket. For those lucky enough to play a part in the game, it will undoubtedly prove to be a proud and memorable occasion.
On the domestic league front, the top-flight of the disability structure has gone through some significant changes for 2025 onwards, with the league now being regionalised to accommodate the additional of two new counties into the Quest League.
The D40 Quest League – the highest level of the national domestic disability structure, which Middlesex’s First Eleven won at a canter last season, has previously been a national competition, however in 2025 it will be played in two regional groups, with the winners of both the South and the North groups meeting in a showcase final at the end of the summer to determine the national disability champions.
Middlesex join Essex, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex in a fiercely competitive South Group, where the defending champions will go head-to-head with some well-established disability outfits, including the three other sides that finished in the top four of the national Quest League last season.
The North Group, in contrast, features Yorkshire, Cricket Wales and Lancashire, who finished fifth, sixth and bottom respectively last year, and they’ll be joined by two new arrivals to the Quest League, in Cheshire and Shropshire, who both competed in the second tier of the domestic disability structure last year.
It will be a tough challenge for Middlesex in the South Group this summer, if the champions are to defend their title and progress through to the national final, scheduled to be played at Kidderminster on 10th August.
The D40 Pursuit League – the second tier of the domestic disability structure, will again be regionalised, with Middlesex competing in the Southeast Group of the competition. The winners of each of the three regional Pursuit Leagues will join the best placed runner-up in the semi-finals, played on 3rd August at Collingham and District Cricket Club, before the national final takes place on 17th August at the same venue.
Middlesex’s D40 Second Eleven fell at the final hurdle last summer. Having won the South Group to progress through to the national final, they narrowly lost out to Cheshire, who lifted the national Pursuit title.
They’ll be hoping to go one better this year, and will be joined by Essex, Surrey, Sussex and the Isle of Wight in the Southeast group.
Finally, the Super 9s campaign will also again be regionalised, with four groups competing across the county, with each group winner progressing into the semi-final stage ahead of the national final.
Middlesex will compete in the Southeast group, along with Essex Kestrels, Essex & Herts Stags, Kent, Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
The Super 9s will be looking for another strong campaign in 2025, having performed well last summer, only for two rained off fixtures to put paid to any hopes of them winning the Southeast group, ultimately leading to a third place finish.
The disability season gets under way on the 27thApril, with the D40 First Eleven and Super 9s both in action, whilst the D40 Second Eleven kick things off the week after.
Chiswick Cricket Club will once again be the home of Middlesex’s Super 9s side, whilst both D40 sides will play their home fixtures at William Perkin School in Greenford.
