Last Saturday saw Middlesex in the Community deliver their first coaching workshop as ECB Coach Developer, Cookie Patel, gave a fascinating insight into all things fielding.
Patel – who has previously worked in roles with England Women, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Northamptonshire and Yorkshire – stripped down fielding to the most basic and fundamental principles and showed their importance all the way from grassroots cricket to the professional game.
Jamie Endean of Stoke Newington said: “Having been a follower of Cookie's YouTube videos, I jumped at the chance to attend a fielding masterclass coached by the man himself, and it didn't disappoint!
“The session was fun, engaging and has enabled us all to think about the steps we can take to improve the players we coach at all levels of cricket.
“It has provided me with exciting new drills, additional techniques to consider whilst coaching and an appetite for more!”
