MAX HOLDEN SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION TO END OF 2027

MAX HOLDEN SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH MIDDLESEX CRICKET TO END OF 2027

Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that top-order batter Max Holden has signed an extension to his contract with the Club that will see him stay at Lord’s until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Left-handed top-order batter Holden first signed professional terms with Middlesex back in 2015 as a 17-year-old, having graduated through the Club’s academy, and in 2024 had his most productive first-class season yet with the bat, narrowly missing out on reaching the milestone of 1,000 runs, finishing the year as the Club’s second-highest run-scorer in first-class cricket, with a tally of 981 runs at an average of 49.05.

He hit two hundreds last summer and a further five half-centuries, with a highest score of 211* - his career-highest innings, coming against Northamptonshire in the Club’s second Vitality County Championship match of the season.

He made his professional debut for Middlesex in 2017 and has since amassed 3,696 first-class runs for the Club, in 81 appearances, including three centuries and 19 half-centuries.

In white-ball cricket he has forged a reputation as an inventive, hard-hitting stroke player with a high strike-rate, and has featured in both the Hundred and the ILT20 in recent seasons, whilst domestically for Middlesex he has hit 767 runs in 20 List-A appearances, with a highest score of 166, and 1,460 runs in T20 cricket, with a highest score of 121*.

He is one of only four players to have hit a century in all three domestic formats of the game for Middlesex.

He has represented his country at under 19 level in both Test and ODI formats and has also represented the England Lions.

Speaking of Holden penning an extension to his contract, the Club’s Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman, commented:

“We are really pleased that Max has committed his long-term future to the Club.

“He is an exceptional talent, and in 2024 we really saw the best of him.

“Whilst still only 27, Max is firmly established as one of our senior professionals and is a great role model and inspiration to the younger batters in our group.

“We wish Max every success over the coming few seasons.”

On extending his terms with Middlesex, Holden himself commented:

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a contract extension with the Club.

“Middlesex has been my home for 15 years ever since I walked through the doors of the Academy aged 12.

“I’m so proud to represent this club, I have huge amount of drive and ambition to bring success and silverware to Middlesex over the next few years.”
