Middlesex Women head to Newport for the second Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash of the season, where we’ll take on Glamorgan tomorrow in our first away match of the campaign.
Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 12 for the trip to Wales, with Pippa Sproul set to make her first appearance.
After an emphatic win over Kent at Radlett last weekend, Middlesex will be looking to carry that momentum into Sunday’s contest and continue their strong start to the season.
The eight-wicket victory over Kent was the perfect opening statement, built on a sensational bowling display. Gaya Gole led the charge with joint career-best figures of 6/30, ably supported by new-ball partner, Katie Wolfe, who took 3/21. Kent were bowled out for 66 runs in 20.4 overs, with Middlesex chasing down the target in just 12.1 overs, for the loss of only two wickets.
It was a dream start to life as a Tier Two side, and one we will be eager to build on this weekend.
Sunday’s hosts, Glamorgan, will also be aiming to make it two wins from two after their rain-affected opening match against Sussex Sharks at Sophia Gardens last week. Posting 175 in a 25-over contest, they went on to win by 54 runs, placing them fourth in the table on Net Run Rate.
Glamorgan will be bolstered by the addition of all-rounder, Emma Jones, who joins them on loan from Surrey for this match.
Middlesex currently sit top of the standings – level on points but ahead on NRR – and will be keen to stay there with another strong performance.
