ANGUS FRASER

Biography

Angus Fraser is a former Middlesex and England cricketer and current Managing Director of Middlesex In The Community.

Fraser made his debut for Middlesex in 1984 and retired from playing in 2002. In a 19-year career for Middlesex he played in teams that won seven trophies and he was captain of the county in the 2001 and 2002 seasons. In total he took over 1,000 wickets for the club.

Fraser made his England debut in 1989 and represented his country on 88 occasions in all forms of cricket. In 46 Test appearances he took 177 wickets, including 13 five-wicket hauls, and was considered England’s best bowler of the 90’s.

In 1999 he was awarded the MBE for services to cricket.

Fraser retired from cricket to take up the position of Cricket Correspondent for the Independent Newspaper. Whilst writing for the Independent Newspaper he became a regular commentator for Test Match Special and pundit for Sky.

Fraser returned to Middlesex CCC in 2009 to take up the newly created position of Managing Director of Cricket. Under his management Middlesex CCC won Division 2 of the County Championship in 2011 and the County Championship in 2016. During this period the club also developed more than a dozen International and England A cricketers.

He also sat on numerous committees and Boards. These including being a Governor at The John Lyon School, sitting on the ICC Cricket committee, the Governments Listed Events Group, the MCC Committee and Middlesex CCC Committee.

Between 2014 and 2018 Fraser was an England selector, working in a team that appointed Eoin Morgan as England’s One-Day captain, which helped transform the squad into World Cup winners. In 2017 England also won The Ashes.

Fraser took up his current role in 2024 and is overseeing the development and growth of Middlesex In The Community, the charitable arm of Middlesex Cricket responsible for the delivery of recreational cricket and participation.

Fraser is married to Denise and has two children, Alexander and Bethan. He lives in Pinner, Middlesex and is Chair of Stanmore Cricket Club, the cricket club at which he played at as a youngster.
